NEW RESTAURANT AT DREAMLAND

NEW RESTAURANT AT DREAMLAND

Margate residents and seaside day-trippers have a new foodie haunt to head to this summer.

Bookings are now open at Dreamland’s brand new European restaurant, Café Barletta, which officially opens its doors to the public on Wednesday 5th June.

Described as part European café and part seaside escape, the café takes inspiration from European cafe culture with a focus on seasonal vegetables from the Garden of England and British sourced meat. Drinks will be concise and fun, with Mediterranean classics such as vermouth & soda and Campari spritz and a wine list including a selection of low-intervention wines.

Dishes include Uova de Raviolo, ricotta, broad beans and chicken jus, Smoked brisket ragu, bone marrow, pappardelle and Skate bacalao, roasted cauliflower, leeks, capers, mustard.

The indoor space has been constructed by Margate-based Vacuum Studios, and includes a ‘conversation pit’ built around an 8ft olive tree, which will act as both a holding area for guests and hot spot for guests looking for lite bites and cocktails. A happy hour every Thursday and Friday is sure to make the restaurant a magnet for post-work and pre-gig socials, while a four plate lunch offer at £19 will allow for high quality swift lunch breaks.

It is hoped the new restaurant will further bolster Margate’s growing food scene and give even more choice to Dreamland diners, who can currently choose from stylish street food in the main park, American diner favourites at the Roller Disco and gastro-pub dining at Cinque Ports pub.

The 50 cover restaurant is the latest venture from chef Jackson Berg, previously of Kettner’s Townhouse and Xiringuito, and Ladies of Restaurants (L.O.R) founder Natalia Ribbe. Jackson Berg is no stranger to the Kentish shores as part of the duo who brought the much-lauded ‘moveable restaurant’ Xiringuito to Margate in summer 2016, which was a popular haunt for foodies far and wide.

He said: “I am excited to return to Margate where so many great people are doing great things in food and drink. We are looking forward to getting back into that world. The summer of 2016 definitely planted the seed in me for future endeavours and I am happy to not only be back in Margs, but Dreamland especially.”

CEO of Dreamland, Eddie Kemsley added: “We loved having Xiringuito on our doorstep and part of the Dreamland family three years ago. Jackson’s food was so widely loved by the community, so we are delighted to be giving him and Café Barletta a permanent home in Margate. This the perfect partnership for us – the creative and flavourful food on Jackson’s menu in the exciting, sociable and wonderfully photogenic backdrop of Dreamland.”

Joining the team from London are Liverpool ‘expats’ and childhood friends, Cavan Power O’Keeffe (Camberwell Arms) and Milo Egan (Brawn) as Head Chef and Restaurant Manager respectively. Cav worked as a Chef de Partie at Xiringuito Liverpool and is looking forward to being re-united with Jackson in the kitchen.
