Accessibility Policy

Dreamland takes a responsible approach with regards to policies and procedures for all guests visiting our attraction. We aim to maintain a consistent approach and aim to meet and exceed the expectations of the Equality Act 2010. Dreamland welcomes guests with disabilities, together with their companion / carer or personal assistant. We aim to provide clear and accurate information to help guests with a disability plan and enjoy their visit at Dreamland Margate.

We are committed to creating a safe environment to ensure the health, safety & welfare of all staff and visitors. We therefore reserve the right to refuse admission to certain rides or attractions should we feel there is a danger to a particular individual or individuals for whatever reason.

Please make sure you read the Health & Safety restrictions for our rides to make your decision on which rides to use. Dreamland cannot be held responsible for any damage/injury caused by using a ride not suitable to individual disabilities. Please speak to a member of staff before purchasing ride tickets.

We have been advised by the Health & Safety Executive that refusal on the grounds of health and safety does not constitute discrimination. We hope that you understand and accept the decisions made are in the interest of the safety of all our guests.

The British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions

BALPPA “Members of the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA) welcome visits by disabled people and will do all that is possible to ensure a safe and pleasurable stay. However, certain rides and attractions in our parks can be physically demanding and vigorous. We therefore reserve the right to refuse admission to certain rides should we feel there is a danger to a particular individual or individuals for whatever reason. We have been advised by the Health & Safety Executive that refusal on the grounds of health & safety does not constitute discrimination. We hope that you understand and accept the decisions made in the interests of your safety.”

On the Day

Our Guest Experience Team will be able to give you information regarding ride availability, access, restrictions and provide any further advice needed to make the most of your day.

Large groups of guests with a disability visiting Dreamland are advised to contact our Guest Experience Team in advance to discuss any particular requirements and ensure a smooth and memorable experience for your party ([email protected]).

Facilities

Accessible toilets are available throughout the park and you’ll find their locations marked on the Park Map. Please note that some of these facilities are fitted with a Radar Key, you are therefore advised to bring your own key to avoid unnecessary waits. Gender neutral toilets can be found in our Roller Room. The nearest Changing Places toilet is located at Thanet Gateway Plus, on Cecil Street. More information can be found here.

The majority of Dreamland’s venues are accessible for wheelchairs. If you need assistance when visiting, you’ll find members of the Dreamland Team on hand who will be happy to help.

Most of the attraction is paved with flat surfaces and paths. If you require additional assistance do not hesitate to ask a member of the Dreamland Team.

Please note wheelchairs are not available to hire at Dreamland, we therefore advise you to bring your own. If you require additional assistance we ask you contact our Guest Experience Team ahead of your visit ([email protected]).

If you are worried about your child or a vulnerable adult going missing during your time at Dreamland, our Guest Experience Team are more than happy to help.

Assistance Dogs are permitted providing there is sufficient documentation, and the assistance dog is trained and registered. Guide Dogs are not permitted in queue lines or on rides. The Guide Dog must remain with a party member at all times.

We want you to have a great time during your visit to Dreamland and will do all within our power to ensure a safe and pleasurable visit as your safety is crucial to us.  However, certain rides & attractions in our park can be physically demanding and vigorous so please ensure you read this policy for further details to understand more about any restrictions that apply.

The Arlington Car Park offers a limited number of accessible car parking for guests with a Blue Badge. Please note there is a short distance of 400 meters to the main Dreamland Entrance. Parking is charged as a daily flat rate of £9.  Please be aware that this car park is managed by SMART PARKING

The Dreamland Car Park off Belgrave Road is a short distance to the Scenic Entrance. Parking is charged as hourly or as a daily flat rate of £9. Please be aware that this car park is managed by SMART PARKING

The Hall by the Sea Road has a very limited number of parking spaces directly outside Dreamland Margate main entrance, this is on a first come first served basis and is operated by Thanet District Council. Parking is charged on an hourly rate.

Cast, Air Boot and Splint

Due to health & safety reasons those with a cast, air boot or splint are unable to enjoy a large proportion of our attractions.

Casts on the joint (i.e. Knee or Elbow) will be unable to ride our attractions. Casts that are below the joint (i.e. Arm) will be able to enjoy a limited number of rides, however we advise anyone with a cast to avoid using our attractions until the injury is fully recovered.

Please be aware it is down to the Rides Operators discretion and any cast they deem unsuitable will be unable to ride the attraction.

Any obstruction or reduction of the functionality of the restraints cannot be accepted. As a result obstructive casts or slings that cannot be removed will be unable to ride some of our attractions.

If you are using crutches you may use them to get up onto the ride platforms however may not be taken onto any of our attractions. Please consider your capabilities to evacuate the ride should the need arise.

We apologise that Air Boots will not be accepted on any ride.

Slings must be taken off to enjoy our attractions and must be confident to brace yourself for the attraction.

Membership
Dreamland are not accepting any new memberships for 2022

Waltzer

  • Suitable for both ambulant and non-ambulant guests.
  • Guests must be 1.0m tall to ride. A responsible adult over 16 must accompany guests between 1.0m and 1.2m tall.
  • Guests with a disability over 1.2m may ride with a companion between 1.0m and 1.2m, however we strongly recommend that if you choose to ride without the assistance of a companion of at least 16 years old, someone of at least this age should be riding within close proximity in the unlikely event of an emergency situation.
  • Not suitable for guests who suffer from back, heart or neck problems, or expectant mothers.
  • Guests must be able to brace themselves with their hands and/or feet and remain sitting in an upright position.
  • Carers may assist the guest with a disability onto the ride providing they have the confidence to assist the Guest with a disability in an emergency.
  • Dependent on Disability, only one non-ambulant guest with a disability may enjoy the attraction per cycle for emergency and evacuation reasons.

Gallopers

  • Suitable for both ambulant and non-ambulant guests.
  • Guests must be 0.9m tall to ride. A responsible adult over 16 must accompany guests under 0.9m.
  • Limited restraint on ride. Guests must be able to sit in an upright position at all times.
  • Guests with a disability over 0.9m and over the age of 16 may ride with a companion under 0.9m, however we strongly recommend that if you choose to ride without the assistance of a companion of at least 16 years old, someone of at least this age should be riding within close proximity in the unlikely event of an emergency situation.
  • Not suitable for guests who suffer from back, heart or neck problems, or expectant mothers.
  • Guests must be able to brace themselves with their hands and/or feet and remain sitting in an upright position.
  • Companions / carers or personal assistants may assist the guest with a disability onto the ride providing they have the confidence to assist the Guest with a disability in an emergency.
  • Dependent on disability, only one non-ambulant guest with a disability may enjoy the attraction per cycle for emergency and evacuation reasons.

Double Decker

  • Suitable for both ambulant and non-ambulant guests.
  • This ride involves a complex evacuation procedure (including uneven surfaces and low ceilings). For more details please speak to a Ride Operator. Dependent on seating location.
  • Guests must be no taller than 0.9m tall and under 8 years of age.
  • We strongly recommend that if you choose to ride without the assistance of a companion, a carer / companion or personal assistant should be riding within close proximity in the unlikely event of an emergency situation.
  • Not suitable for guests who suffer from back, heart or neck problems, or expectant mothers.
  • Guests must be able to brace themselves with their hands and/or feet and remain sitting in an upright position.
  • Companions / carers or personal assistants may assist the guest with a disability onto the ride providing they have the confidence to assist the guest with a disability in an emergency.
  • Dependent on disability, only one non-ambulant guest with a disability may enjoy the attraction per cycle for emergency and evacuation reasons.

Dodgems

  • Suitable for both ambulant and non-ambulant guests.
  • To ride our vintage dodgems you must be over 1.4m and over 14 years old to drive
  • We strongly recommend that if you choose to ride without the assistance of a companion, a carer should be riding within close proximity in the unlikely event of an emergency situation.
  • Not suitable for guests who suffer from back, heart or neck problems, or expectant mothers.
  • Guests must be able to brace themselves with their hands and/or feet and remain sitting in an upright position.
  • Carers may assist the guest with a disability onto the ride providing they have the confidence to assist the Guest with a disability in an emergency.
  • Dependent on Disability, only one non-ambulant guest with a disability may enjoy the attraction per cycle for emergency and evacuation reasons.
  • Non-ambulant guests will need to transfer from their wheelchair to the ride.

Austin Cars

  • Suitable for both ambulant and non-ambulant guests.
  • Guests must be a maximum of 1.2m.
  • Not suitable for guests who suffer from back, heart or neck problems.
  • Guests must be able to brace themselves with their hands and/or feet and remain sitting in an upright position.
  • Carers may assist the guest with a disability onto the ride providing they have the confidence to assist the Guest with a disability in an emergency.
  • Non-ambulant guests will need to transfer from their wheelchair to the ride.

Whirl-a-Round

  • Suitable for both ambulant and non-ambulant guests.
  • This ride involves a complex evacuation procedure (including uneven surfaces and low ceilings). For more details please speak to a Ride Operator.
  • Guests must be a minimum of 1.2m tall to ride unaccompanied.
  • Guests must be 0.9m tall to ride. A responsible adult over 16 must accompany guests between 0.9m and 1.2m tall.
  • Guests with a disability over 1.2m may ride with a companion between 0.9m and 1.2m, however we strongly recommend that if you choose to ride without the assistance of a companion of at least 16 years old, someone of at least this age should be riding within close proximity of the ride in the unlikely event of an emergency situation.
